Our company has been a leader for lawn services in Lincoln and the surrounding area for years, It's how we started, and then developed into Capital City Landscapes.
Capital City Landscapes is Lincoln’s 'Lawn and Landscape Service of Choice.' Maintaining any property requires special attention to detail. Whether it is a Business Park, Stand Alone Buildings, Neighborhood Association, or your personal home or acerage, Capital City Landscapes takes pride in our work to make sure your property is maintained quickly and cleaned properly.
Capital City Landscapes lawn services include grass mowing, weed eating, edging, and blowing the property clean. Properly maintained lawns do wonders for your properties appearance and the overall looks of any area, business or home. Mowing is done more often than any other business grounds service, because properly mowed green spaces have fewer weeds, better moisture stress tolerances and an overall healthier look than those that are NOT properly mowed.
We use the best mowers and sharpest blades to cut grass. We sharpen our blades on a regular schedule to make sure that grass blades have an even clean cut, so they will not damage the turf. We also mow at the proper height for your type of grass and have the experience to care for your property.
Your Capital City Landscapes Professional can determine where and when you can benefit from adding new seedlings (also known as overseeding) into the existing grass to promote overall turf health and development. We can also determine when an old worn out green space should be replaced with a more tolerant grass variety ... and whether it may be more cost effective to use sod instead. Newly seeded properties need to be watered daily and kept moist. Your Capital City Landscapes Professional will keep on top of the situation and make sure your grass is growing properly.
Properly fertilized green spaces are better at preventing weed infestation, drought and disease. They also help the environment by producing oxygen, cooling the air during hot weather, and trapping and absorbing dust and pollution.
Capital City Landscapes uses a unique 5 point fertilization process. Our fertilizers are made from natural ingredients including nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. The process feeds the turf at the proper time, depending on the blend of grass or time of year. The fertilizers we use provide your property with the nutrients needed to produce strong roots and resist weeds, disease, and insects. We also put up signs to warn people and pets to not be on the grass immediately following application.
Many weeds grow in green spaces, flower beds and sometimes even in planters. They get there from blowing through the air, dropping from shoes, pets, vehicles, And even people passing by. Weeds are often introduced by mulches or compost materials. A weed is merely a plant growing in the wrong place at the wrong time. They look awful at ANY property and many have large leaves that shade grass and rob water and nutrients from the property.
The very best way to keep weeds away is with a Capital City Landscapes Professional Maintenance Program. Our programs are customized for YOUR property, and provide the exact watering, mowing, fertilization, insect and disease control so the grass will out-grow the weeds.DO NOT let weeds take over your green space. You don't have to do this yourself, or pay an employee to spend all day pulling them (when they should be doing something that makes your company money). Hand pulling is practical but only in small spaces. But remember, the entire root must be pulled out, bagged and disposed of.
Capital City Landscapes uses a pre-emergent (which means prior to weed growth) herbicide. If there are already weeds growing, a post-emergent (which means after they have grown) can be sprayed to kill just the weeds.
Occasionally, weeds may even grow in mulch. Unless you or an employee has unlimited time, unlimited patience and special know how (most don't) just let your Capital City Landscapes Professional take care of all this for you as part of a complete maintenance program for your property.
Aeration is the secret weapon in making grounds healthy. Aeration involves making holes in the turf by what is known as "coring" (which means extracting a plug of soil). By coring aeration, several important benefits result for the grass and its root system. First, oxygen gets to the roots and the soil allowing it to 'breathe.' Organic fertilizers and nutrients then get easy access to the root system, and water is able to better soak the soil and reach the root system. Aeration helps to break up thatch and finally, tight compacted soil is loosened up making it ideal for the root system to grow. Aeration is best done in early Spring or late Fall. Your Capital City Landscapes Professional can determine which is best for your property, but generally Fall is the best time to aerate. This way, when snow melts the moisture is held in the cores.
Whether you just moved to a new location that doesn't't have sod yet or are in an older property that just needs renovation, Capital City Landscapes is the one to do it. We have all heard the old joke "Green Side Up!", but installing sod right is a lot more than that. Since 1995, we'we have done hundreds of new business sod installations.
Capital City Landscapes Professionals have the experience to know how to prepare the surface, lay the sod and get that new green space you want, normally in one or two days depending on the size of your property. If you have underground sprinklers, we'll locate the pipes and work around them to make sure they are not damaged.
If you don't already have sprinklers, this may be a good time to consider adding them (something we can handle as well). Having a properly working sprinkler system can be an essential part of a successful sod installation and will help new grass last longer.
